Pro Specie Rara

Heidi is inseparable the love of nature and the care and tending of their goats. Alpine nature has been for centuries shaped by livestock farming on the Alps. Cows, goats and sheep are tireless and extremely important landscape gardeners, because they help to prevent the alpine meadows from becoming overgrown with bushes thus strengthen biodiversity. The processing of their milk, their wool and meat was the livelihood of the population for a long time and is closely linked to our customs and traditions.

Old breeds of domestic animals are particularly well adapted to the conditions in the mountains, but they are coming under increasing pressure due to high-performance breeds. It is an affair of the heart for us to help preserve these beautiful, original breedsand to confront the loss of genetic diversity.
